The Friends of the San Francisco Birth Center (FOSFBC) is dedicated to ensuring that all Bay Area women have financial means available to plan out-of-hospital births and access high quality midwife-led prenatal and postpartum care at the San Francisco Birth Center. As a fiscally sponsored project of the Social Good Fund, FOSFBC is focused exclusively on fundraising and grant-making to cover the gap between what lower-income families can afford to pay, and what it actually costs the Birth Center to provide the full suite of prenatal, birth, and postpartum support services. By making need-based grants available upon request, the Friends of the San Francisco Birth Center strives to guarantee that lower-income women seeking care at the Birth Center can have equal opportunity, access to community, and choices in care, just like their peers of greater means do.
